A message from Mark Knight, CEO

Knight Software, Inc. is a privately held corporation primarily located in Florence, South Carolina. We have a staff of 12 dedicated professionals located in three different states.
We have been in the business of developing software applications since 1981. We released our first Behavioral Health accounting system in 1985. Those first clients still use KIS, and we have migrated them seamlessly across several technological platforms; from DOS to Client / Server, to an "anywhere" TCP/IP KIS Server, through Y2k and HIPAA, to the rock solid data storage of Microsoft's SQL Server. Over the coming months, we will be transitioning these same clients to KIS Lynx, a true Web anywhere/anytime technology (as well as meeting the requirements of the new proposed federal Electronic Health Record mandates) continuing a technology upgrade success roadmap unparalleled in the Behavioral Health industry.
If a software company is going to keep the same clients for 25 years, you have to do things differently. We have four core values that drive the function and success of Knight Software, Inc.:
-
We refuse to promise or sell what we can't deliver. "Vaporware" does not exist at Knight Software; this is because we will never sell a product that is not in production. No pre-orders for non-existent software; we have learned that this practice leads to terrible expectation hurdles with clients. If you want to keep your clients, you simply can't do it.
-
We focus on the things we do well. The field of Behavioral Health is vast and expansive. We focus on the areas of Behavioral Health that we know; Client Services, Clinical Records, Accounting. Focusing on what we know how to do allows us to provide a consistent, rock solid product that simply works for our clients.
-
We design and price our products for Behavioral Health Agencies. There are many Behavioral Health packages that started as hospital or medical practice software packages (both in scope of functionality and in price), and have been "converted" to work in Behavioral Health. At Knight Software, we took a different approach. Designed from the ground up exclusively for Behavioral Health clients, our KIS suite of products offers the functions that your agencies most often use, and our prices are tailored for the reality of the Behavioral Health market. Our clients count on us to meet their ever growing needs at competitive prices. We meet that challenge every day, and have the commitment and resources to meet the expectations of tomorrow.
-
We tell the truth. The Behavioral Health market is in a constant state of change. Over just the past 10 years, we have been through many changes: Y2K, HIPAA, Insurance, Medicaid, Procedure Code, etc. As of this writing, there is a national effort to create a shared "Electronic Health Record". There are some companies that use these times of uncertainty to "pre-sell" products with features that have requirements that are incomplete. We do not. Our philosophy is that we charge once (when the standards are complete). If you are paying for "Final Interim Proposed Standard X" changes, then you will pay again when the final "final" standard at last emerges. We will not charge our clients money to meet a non-existent or unclear standard. It is our job to help our clients navigate the technology changes that they face (Y2K, HIPAA, potential upcoming EHR). We don't just talk about it; we do it.
25 years, one owner, one vision, one commitment. If that is the type of company you would like to work with, please give us a call.
